This is a Walthers 910-1181 HO Scale Canadian Pacific 40' Association of American Railroads AAR Modernized 1948 Boxcar #44004 (Boxcar Red, Staggered Lettering). Built by the thousands after WWII, most had lots of life left in them when new safety standards were adopted in the mid-1960s to eliminate most freight car running boards. Running into the 1980s in regular service, some were later reassigned to maintenance-of-way work.
